Unit Overview:

This unit supports the book (and Kennedy Center production of) Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse. The lessons my be taught as a group or individually.

A Deeper Shade of Purple

Students observe that a variety of objects are tints and shades of purple, and classify the objects in several ways.

 

Jingly Coins

In this lesson, students play with different kinds of coins to see which ones make the loudest and softest sounds.

 

Safe Bike Behavior

Students model bicycle and helmet safety through drama, dance, and music.

 

Nifty Disguises

In the YFP production of Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse, Lilly loves to wear nifty disquises. Students help Lilly decide which nifty disguise she will wear, through problem solving and by using a chart.
