Overview

Discover the who, what, when, where, and why of storytelling through interactive games, media galleries, lesson plans and more!

Suggested Use

Use this site to introduce students to the techniques that storytellers use to bring stories to life. Interactive demonstrations and quizzes help students appreciate and master a storyteller's primary tools: words, imagination, face, body, and voice.

Spinning Stories, Telling Tales is designed for independent student use, but can also be coupled with direct classroom instruction. Lesson plans, embedded throughout the site, offer a wealth of ideas for integrating storytelling across disciplines. To truly introduce students to the tradition of storytelling, it is essential that these online activities be suplemented with offline opportunities for students to develop, practice, and present their own stories.

Technical Requirements

Flash 6 and the Real One Player are required for viewing the storytelling videos and interactive games.
