Unit Overview:

How are U.S. presidents elected? The presidential election process is a challenging process. This three-lesson unit divides each step into easy to understand lessons that integrate U.S. history and government, and the arts. Students use a multitude of methods for researching the election process to determine who is eligible to run for presidential office and who is eligible to vote in elections. Students then use this information to create a campaign song, design a campaign poster, and create a political cartoon. Note: While the pronoun "he" is used throughout these lessons, please make students aware that both men and women are eligible to be President of the United States.
