Biographies:
Jeremy Alliger

Artistic Director/Producer Jeremy Alliger founded Dance Umbrella in 1981. Originally a one-person operation with a budget of $40,000, Dance Umbrella is now among the most active producers of contemporary dance in the United States. Mr. Alliger is responsible for program content and artistic selection, subject to approval by the Board of Directors. His artistic vision and leadership have created national models (Multicultural Dance Curriculum, Dance Company-in-Residence, and Boston Moves programs) and first-ever festival gatherings that focus on specific cultures and dance forms. Mr. Alliger has served as panelist, speaker, or board member for: the NEA, MacArthur Foundation, Guggenheim Memorial Foundation and National Performance Network, the Association of Performing Arts Presenters, Cambridge Arts Commission, New England Foundation for the Arts, Boston Dance Alliance, and Tanec Prahn, among others. A graduate of Emerson College, Mr. Alliger received the school’s Alumni Achievement award in 1992.
