Dr. Elias Katz

Dr. Elias Katz is President and Co-Founder, National Institute of Art and Disabilities (NIAD), an exemplary visual arts center for adults with developmental disabilities, located in Richmond, California. Dr. Katz and his late wife, Florence Ludino-Katz, M.A., co-founded several art centers for people with disabilities in the San Francisco Bay Area, starting in 1974. Their model of an art center has been successfully replicated in many states and countries, including Denmark, Scotland, Ireland, and Japan. Dr. Katz has established the Research and Training Center in Art and Disabilities (RTCAD), an affiliate of NIAD, comprising a library and Resource Room, poster collection, videotape collection, and Internet sites in arts and disabilities.
