Dr. Deborah M. Sonnenstrahl



Dr. Deborah M. Sonnenstrahl

After teaching art history at Gallaudet University for three decades, Dr. Deborah M. Sonnenstrahl retired a Professor Emeritus in 1996. She earned her BA degree in Art in 1958 from Gallaudet. Since 1975, Dr. Sonnenstrahl has been actively involved in museum accessibility and later in showcasing deaf artists’ contributions to artistic styles of society. She has served on several museum advisory committees and conducted numerous workshops and seminars on museum accessibility and deaf artists at The Museum of Modern Art and The Metropolitan Museum of Art, both in New York, and at other sites.
