Laureen Summers is Program Associate for the Project on Science, Technology and Disability at the American Association for the Advancement of Science. She was formerly employed as a Special Project Assistant at Very Special Arts, as a peer counselor in independent living centers, and a media specialist at the National Rehabilitation Information Center. As a woman with cerebral palsy, she has been involved in the disability movement for 15 years. Summers is also a weaver of textured wall hangings, and has taught and exhibited in the Washington, D.C. area. She has testified before Congress on the inclusion of people with disabilities in science and technology careers, education, and in the arts.
