Biographies:
Barbara R. Trader



As Vice President of Programs, Barbara R. Trader oversees all aspects of programming at Very Special Arts (VSA), supervising the Program Development, Affiliate Services, Gallery and National Partnerships departments. Since Trader joined VSA in 1996, she has directed the restructuring of the programs divisions and the efforts of VSA in developing partnerships to strategically position the organization as a leader in the field of arts, education, and disability. Prior to joining VSA, Trader was the Vice President of Youth and Community Programs for the Atlanta Paralympic Organizing Committee (APOC), responsible for the staging of the International Paralympic games and the Third Paralympic Congress, a worldwide Congress on disability in 1996. As a founding board member for APOC, she led the bid process and the effort to bring the Games to the United States for the first time. She was the Director of the Therapeutic Recreation department at the Shepherd Spinal Center form 1978-1993.
