Betty Carter’s Jazz Ahead is an international jazz residency, performance and composition project dedicated to discovering and presenting the next generation of jazz greats at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.

Under the direction of Jason Moran, the program brings together outstanding, emerging jazz artist-composers in their mid-teens to age twenty-five for a 2-week residency. They live, work and play together under the tutelage of experienced artist-instructors who coach and counsel them--helping to polish their performance, composing, and arranging skills.

To learn more about the impact and goals of the program, watch the videos above.

For more information and application requirements, visit the Jazz Ahead page on the Kennedy Center's site.
