Asia through Alice's Eyes
When the NSO goes on tour, members of the orchestra occasionally bring their children along with them. On this tour, a member of the orchestra brought her daughter, Alice, along with her. Alice shared her experiences in China and Japan by sending us "virtual postcards" from each city that she visited. Check out Alice's postcards by clicking on the dates below.
Alice is 11 years old and is in the 6th grade at Glasgow Middle School in Fairfax County, Virginia. She plays piano and flute, sings in a youth choir, and is fluent in American Sign Language. Alice's favorite school subjects are math and social studies and she loves running and gymnastics.
Since a very early age, Alice has been fascinated by the many different languages, religions, cultures, and customs around the world. In 1994, she traveled with the National Symphony to Japan and Taiwan, and she is thrilled to have the opportunity to tour with them again.
