Asia Through Alice's Eyes....

I'm Coming Home!

Today I flew home from Japan! After a midnight baggage call, a 7:30 a.m. departure from the hotel, a long bus ride, a 12-hour plane flight, collecting our baggage, going through U.S. Customs, and taking a cab, I was finally home! Our flight took off at 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, and we landed at 8:45 a.m. on Wednesday! (Plane flights are always made complicated by the time change, especially when you cross the International Date Line.)

Because Japan is 14 hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time, I will have very bad jet lag for the next few days. I am hoping to go back to school tomorrow. That means (in Japan time) I will wake up at 8 p.m., get on the bus at 9 p.m., and come home from school at 5:15 a.m. It will be hard staying awake!

I would like to thank the whole ArtsEdge staff for setting up this website, and giving me the chance to send in these postcards. They lent me a laptop computer and a digital camera, and taught me all I needed to know. I already knew quite a bit about computers, but I had never used a digital camera before. It was really neat to take the pictures, load them from the camera onto the hard drive of the laptop, choose the best ones, and send them as e-mail attachments, all the way back to Washington D.C. from halfway around the world.

Also, I want to thank the members of the National Symphony for their friendship and good humor. They are not only great musicians, but also really nice people!
